3.4 mm Interlocking Screw

The 3.4 mm Interlocking Screw is a fully threaded cortical screw specifically designed for locking intramedullary nails in orthopedic fracture fixation systems. Fabricated from biocompatible stainless steel or titanium alloy, this screw ensures strong, stable anchorage through the nail’s locking holes into the surrounding bone, providing axial and rotational stability to the construct.
Its 3.4 mm outer diameter makes it suitable for medium to large bone intramedullary nails, such as those used in the femur, tibia, and humerus. Most versions come with self-tapping or self-drilling tips for efficient insertion without pre-drilling or tapping, depending on surgical preference and bone quality.
The screws are available in multiple lengths to accommodate patient-specific anatomical and surgical needs, and may be used proximally and/or distally depending on the design of the intramedullary nail.
- Securing intramedullary nails:- Locks the nail in place proximally, distally, or both, to prevent rotation and axial migration.
- Long bone fracture fixation:- Commonly used in tibia, femur, and humerus fracture repairs where interlocking nailing is employed.
- Comminuted or unstable fractures:- Enhances construct rigidity and promotes proper alignment in fractures that cannot be compressed or supported with load-sharing alone.
- Polytrauma patients:- Provides stable internal fixation, enabling early mobilization and weight bearing.
- Osteoporotic bone or compromised cortical strength:- Larger diameter helps maintain purchase in softer bone compared to smaller interlocking screws.
- Revisions or re-locking procedures:- Useful in cases of screw loosening or failure, to restore fixation integrity.
