End Cap for Nail

+ Description

The End Cap is a precision-machined orthopedic implant designed to be inserted into the proximal or distal end of an intramedullary (IM) nail. Made from biocompatible stainless steel or titanium alloy, the end cap serves multiple important functions in locking nail systems. It typically features a threaded design that securely screws into the nail’s end, forming a flush and stable interface.

Available in various lengths and thread sizes, the end cap may be standard, extended, or offset, depending on the type of nail (femoral, tibial, humeral) and the anatomical or surgical requirement. The component is often color-coded or marked for easy identification and compatibility with specific nail systems.

+ Indications
  • Prevents nail migration:- Acts as a stopper to prevent backing out or telescoping of the intramedullary nail after implantation.
  • Maintains axial stability:- Provides added support in maintaining proper length and alignment of the fracture.
  • Enhances rotational control:-Helps reduce rotational micromovement, particularly when locking screws are under high stress.
  • Closes the proximal or distal nail opening:- Protects the internal thread of the nail from debris or biological contamination.
  • Facilitates implant removal:- Provides a grip point for extraction instruments during nail removal procedures.
  • Length adjustment (in extended caps):-Allows fine-tuning of the overall nail length in certain fracture configurations.
  • Compatible with multiple nail types:- Used in tibial, femoral, and humeral nailing systems, with designs specific to each.
