Connecting Rod | Titanium

+ Description
The Connecting Rod, also known as a spinal rod, is a vital component of posterior spinal fixation systems. It connects pedicle screws or other spinal anchors across vertebral segments, creating a rigid or semi-rigid construct that stabilizes the spine during healing and fusion. The rod transmits corrective forces applied during deformity correction or trauma stabilization and helps maintain spinal alignment postoperatively.
Typically made of medical-grade titanium, titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI), or CoCr (Cobalt-Chrome), connecting rods are available in various diameters (e.g., 5.5 mm, 6.0 mm, 6.35 mm) and lengths, with straight, pre-contoured, or malleable options.
+ Indications
- Posterior Spinal Fusion (PSF) for lumbar, thoracic, or sacral regions
- Deformity Correction in scoliosis, kyphosis, or lordosis cases
- Spinal Trauma Stabilization
- Degenerative Spine Disease requiring multi-level fixation
- Revision Spine Surgery
- Patients requiring stabilization during spinal fusion
- Vertebral instability due to trauma, tumor, or deformity
- Constructs requiring longitudinal support between pedicle screws
- Conditions needing rigid alignment support for healing and load sharing
+ Key Features
- High-Strength Construction : Manufactured from titanium or cobalt-chrome alloys for excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Supports biomechanical stability across multiple spinal levels
- Flexible & Contourable (Titanium) : Titanium rods allow intraoperative bending to match patient anatomy. Facilitates customized spinal alignment correction
- High Stiffness (CoCr Rods) : Cobalt-chrome rods offer greater rigidity for deformity correction and high-load cases
- Smooth, Polished Surface Finish : Reduces tissue irritation and wear. Minimizes corrosion and improves long-term performance
- Available in Multiple Lengths & Diameters : Supports pediatric and adult applications across various spinal regions
- Radiographic Compatibility : Titanium rods are MRI- and CT-compatible for post-op imaging. Radiolucent alignment possible with appropriate instrumentation
- ISO & CE Certified Manufacturing : Produced under strict quality control for safety and consistency in spinal procedures
